Senior professional midwives from Fernandez Hospital conducted a full-day workshop on 25th March for nurse midwives in Pune as part of a self-directed initiative in obstetric emergency training to health care practitioners in various cities. The training will help impact on preventable deaths.
The workshop was conducted for 40 delegates by senior midwives Ms. Jyothi and Ms. Ramtiben. The training was a follow-up of the Train-the Trainer cascading initiative introduced at Fernandez by visiting professional midwives from the U.K.
The workshop consisted of 5 skill stations : 1. Newborn Resuscitation; 2. Effective Communication skills; 3. PPH; 4. Shoulder Dystocia and Breech delivery; 5. maternal mental health. Ms. Jyothi focused on Shoulder Dystocia and Ms. Ramtiben demonstrated the Breech Delivery.
