Mr Andrew Fleming, British Deputy High Commissioner, Hyderabad, visited MCH District Hospital, Karimnagar on Saturday, 13th October, and interacted with the first cohort of 30 nurses undergoing Professional Midwifery Training at the center. This training programme is a unique public-private partnership between Telangana State Government and Fernandez Hospital, facilitated by UNICEF. It is also the first of its kind in the country.
Mr Fleming enjoyed a tour of the hospital. He interacted with the trainees at their workplaces. He was overwhelmed by the feedback and candour of the trainees regarding the midwifery training course. They admitted a change in attitude and a better understanding of woman centered care. The midwives also spoke of an increased confidence in both knowledge and skills. They realized the vital role of a professional midwife in a woman’s journey to motherhood.
Mr Andrew Fleming expressed his appreciation of this project and reminded the trainees that they were a privileged and responsible group of professionals who are the flag bearers of change.
