Cardiotocography (CTG) Training

Electronic Fetal Monitoring has become an integral part of assessing a fetus, especially with the rise in litigation in modern obstetrics. Most institutions have a CTG machine but most of the care providers, have not had any formal training with regard to the correct interpretation or with management protocols for an abnormal tracing. Fernandez Hospital fills the void with this short training programme.

Electronic Fetal Monitoring: Antepartum and Intrapartum Use, Intrapartum Management of Labour – Use of a Partogram, Fetal Surveillance in High Risk Pregnancies, Role of Neonatal Team in Optimizing Outcomes, Importance of a Holistic Approach – Physician's Perspective.

DNB – Obstetrics & Gynaecology

In August 2004, Fernandez Hospital was granted recognition by the National Board of Examinations, New Delhi,
as a centre for Post Graduate Training Programme in the Speciality of Obstetrics and Gynaecology for Four Seats
(July Session).

Primary Candidates (MBBS):

Interested candidates need to undergo a Centralized Entrance Test (DNB – CET) conducted by the National Board of Examinations and is an essential pre-requisite for entry to DNB Board Specialty. Candidates successful in the DNB-CET shall be asked to participate in a Centralized merit based counseling conducted by National Board of Examinations for allotment of DNB seats at NBE accredited Institutions/hospitals/medical colleges in order of their merit, and candidate shall be able to opt for the NBE accredited institution/ hospital/medical college of their choice as per availability on their merit. It is a three years training programme.

Secondary Candidates (MBBS, DGO):

Interested candidates need to undergo a Post Diploma Centralized Entrance Test (DNB – PDCET) conducted by the National Board of Examinations. PDCET is a ranking examination for entry to various post diploma DNB courses. Admission to the Secondary DNB course will be done only through Centralized counseling conducted by National Board of Examinations.

Candidates declared qualified in the Post Diploma CET Examination will be asked to participate in the centralized counseling in order of their Specialty specific merit and will be able to opt for the NBE accredited institution/hospital/medical college of their choice as per seat availability on their merit.

Post Doctoral Fellowship in High Risk Pregnancy and Perinatology

In 2001, Fernandez Hospital was granted recognition by the National Board of Examinations, New Delhi as a centre for High Risk Pregnancy and Perinatology for two seats. It is the only centre in India to be recognized for Post Doctoral training, and in the year 2009 additional two seats were sanctioned (January Session).

Interested candidates need to undergo a Fellowship Entrance Examination (FEE). It is the entrance examination for admission to the 2 years Post Doctoral FNB programme. Selection to the fellowship programme is based on an entrance test admission to the post doctoral fellowship FNB course will be done only through Centralized counseling conducted by National Board of Examination. Candidates declared qualified in the Fellowship Entrance Examination will be asked to participate in the centralized counseling in order of their Specialty merit and will be able to opt for the NBE accredited institution/hospital/medical college of their choice as per seat availability on their merit.

IAP Fellowship in Neonatology

In 2008, Fernandez Hospital was granted recognition by the Indian Academy of Paediatrics to run one year and one and half year courses. It is a one year course for an MD / DNB candidate and 1 ½ year for a DCH candidate.

Interested candidates need to undergo an entrance test followed by counselling by Fernandez Hospital in the month of June for July Session and November for January Session.

Allotment of IAP Fellowship seats is in order of their merit.



Post Doctoral DNB Training in Neonatology

In 2007, Fernandez Hospital was granted recognition by the National Board of Examinations, New Delhi as a centre for Post Doctoral DNB Training in Neonatology for two seats (January Session).

Interested candidates need to undergo a Centralised Entrance Test – Super Specialty (CET-SS) and is an essential pre-requisite for entry to post MD/MS/DNB 3-year Super Specialty courses. Candidates successful in the CET-SS shall be asked to participate in a Centralized merit based counseling conducted by National Board of Examinations for allotment of DNB seats at NBE accredited Institutions/hospitals/medical colleges in order of their merit. Candidates shall be able to opt for the NBE accredited institution/hospital/medical college of their choice as per availability on their merit.



Post Doctoral Fellowship in Obstetric Anaesthesia

Fernandez Hospital was the first private Obstetric and Gynaecological Hospital to introduce a 24-hour Anaesthesia Service. The Prerna Anaesthesia & Critical Care Services team provides an "on-demand" epidural service (labour analgesia), and today 34% of our labouring mothers use epidural analgesia. Later, a dedicated Obstetric Critical Care Unit, the first in the country, was also started. The Observer's Programme in Obstetric Anaesthesia has been very successful. In 2007, a one-year Post-Doctoral Fellowship Course in Obstetric Anaesthesia was introduced for the first time in the country, and has been running successfully.
