About Dr Tarakeswari Surapaneni

Dr Tarakeswari Surapaneni is a Senior Consultant Obstetrician at Fernandez Hospital. An alumna of Rangaraya Medical College, Kakinada, she completed her MD from Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, in 1993. She joined Fernandez Hospital in 1995 and has since played a pivotal role in advancing specialised obstetric care.

Dr Tarakeswari established and leads several key services at the hospital, including the High-Risk Pregnancy Clinic, Pre-Pregnancy and Recurrent Pregnancy Loss Clinics (since 2001), and the Obstetric Medicine Department (since 2007).

With decades of experience, she is widely regarded for her expertise in managing complex and high-risk pregnancies. Her clinical interests focus on medical disorders complicating pregnancy and preconception counselling. Her work is centred on ensuring optimal maternal and fetal outcomes, rather than general gynaecology or infertility care.

A dedicated academician, Dr. Tarakeswari actively mentors postgraduate students, guides thesis work, and conducts regular clinical teaching sessions. She has been invited as a DNB Inspector and has served as faculty at numerous national and international conferences. She also has several publications to her credit.
